As conflict and COVID-19 continues to displace and deprive children in Iraq and Yemen, it’s our duty to give charity to those facing hardship. We must remember that giving to others through charity is not an inordinate act; it is simply humanity and is expected in Islam. You will be rewarded for your charity; being charitable enriches both the giver and the receiver.

“You shall complete the number [of days] and you may glorify God for his guiding you, and that you may be thankful.”

The Holy Quran 2:185

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Eid Al Fitr follows the final day of fasting and is usually celebrated over three consecutive days. On this day, Muslims all over the world unite in congregation and recite prayers shoulder to shoulder. Eid is a time of celebration and rejoicing with family and friends. Traditionally, Muslim families will visit family and friends, greeting each other with “Eid Mubarak” on this auspicious occasion.

Eid Al Fitr is also a day to give charity and remember those who are far less fortunate. Before Eid prayer at the end of Ramadan, it is obligatory for every able Muslim to pay zakat al-Fitr. Zakat al-Fitr is an obligatory charitable donation all Muslims are required to make during Ramadan and refers to giving charity in order to please Allah (swt) and giving to those who are less fortunate. The head of household can also pay zakat al-Fitr for their dependants. Zakat al-Fitr is usually paid during Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr prayers so that the poor can also enjoy the day of Eid.

As the Month of Ramadan is coming to an end, let’s take this opportunity to thank Allah (swt) for giving us the opportunity to fast and seek forgiveness in the Month of Mercy. We must also pray for the Muslim Ummah during these last few nights; our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world are struggling and they need our prayers.

Whilst we prepare ourselves for Eid over the next few days, we should spare a thought for those who are not able to enjoy the occasion of Eid due to difficult living conditions and poverty. As we buy our Eid clothes and prepare our Eid feasts, let’s remember the less fortunate and use this opportunity to give generously – to bring a smile to the faces of our Muslim brothers and sisters.

The amount given for Zakat al-Fitr is usually the value of one meal, which needs be received by the person in need before Eid prayers. It is therefore recommended that you make a donation as early as possible, during Ramadan.

Donate your Zakat al-Fitr through Noor Orphans Fund, safe in the knowledge that your donation will go to the orphans and needy people in Iraq and Yemen.

The Holy Quran mentions that the angels descend to Earth on Laylatul Qadr and that this night holds rewards equivalent to those of a thousand months. The significance of this night is marked by the fact that the Holy Quran was revealed for the first time during this night as guidance for all mankind and the first verses were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on the night of Laylatul Qadr (which is often referred to as The Night of Decree).

The month of Ramadan is a privilege conferred on us by Allah (swt), during this time we have the opportunity to repent and attain nearness to God. It is also a time for sacrifice and helping others, as Muslims it’s our responsibility to help those in need. By helping others, we will also be able to recognise and appreciate the countless blessings that Allah (swt) has bestowed upon us.

As Ramadan is coming to an end, Noor Orphans Fund urges its donors to remember the poor and the less fortunate in their dua and prayers. Giving charity on Laylatul Qadr is highly recommended, and the rewards for giving on this night are heavily multiplied. Those most deserving of our charity during this night are the orphans, widows and the needy. You can be amongst the believers who reap the rewards of Laylatul Qadr and be the change for those who are suffering from poverty and hardship in Yemen and Iraq.

Distribution of iftar baskets in Iraq 2021

Charitable giving is highly recommended in Islam and it’s expected from able Muslims to give from their provision. By giving charity on Laylatul Qadr, not only will you be helping others but your good deeds will carry immense spiritual rewards. Giving on this night is the ideal time to give to charity.

Noor Orphans Fund aims to help those affected by conflict and poverty in Yemen and Iraq. Your donations will go towards helping those who live in the most poverty-stricken and destitute areas in Iraq and Yemen. You can reap the rewards of Laylatul Qadr by donating today towards our Ramadan campaign. We’re currently raising donations to supply iftar hampers to vulnerable families in need including orphaned families, the elderly and the ill.

The crisis in Yemen is recognised as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in the past four years and the country is currently plunging towards the worst famine the world has seen in decades.

Distribution of iftar baskets in Yemen 2021

Already one of the poorest countries in the region, Yemen’s devastated economy which is a major driver of the famine has now left millions unable to afford food and essentials items. Families have become very desperate as the impact of the economy takes its toll. The latest data reveal that more than 2 million children and over 1 million pregnant women and new mothers are currently severely malnourished. Yemen’s communities face health risks amplified by lack of money to purchase medicine or travel to clinics, in addition to this there is the deadly danger of poor water and sanitation.[1]

Distribution of iftar baskets in Yemen 2021

As the conflict continues to devastate families and put civilians at grave risk, the people of Yemen require humanitarian aid now more than ever. Trying to stave off famine in these circumstances is a big challenge, with COVID-19 things have only become more difficult as families must focus all their energies on finding the next meal, worrying about the virus comes second. Two thirds of Yemen’s population have almost nothing to eat, and over 24 million people need our help, the highest figure across the globe.

While the country endures unthinkable aid cuts in 2021, it makes the window of assistance even narrower. Yemeni’s find themselves asking “Why has the world abandoned us?” as more people starve daily.

Distribution of iftar baskets in Yemen 2021

It is our duty as Muslims to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters who live in these excruciatingly difficult circumstances. This Ramadan Noor Orphans Fund will be distributing iftar hampers throughout the holy Month as part of our Ramadan Aid campaign. From as little as £15, you can feed a family in need for an entire month, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients they desperately need.

We need your help to reach as many people as possible. This is a great opportunity to help our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters who are suffering from extreme poverty and famine. You can make a difference during this holy month by donating to our appeals today.

Donate now to save lives in Yemen.

“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [Saying], “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.”

The Holy Quran: 76:8-9

Thanks to your generous donations, our food hampers have already made it’s way to Yemen and cities across Iraq, including Baghdad, Balad, Kirkuk, Najaf and Karbala.

The Holy month of Ramadan is a blessing, it the month of purity and a month of giving to charity. In 2021, we live in a world of abundance, yet hunger is still one of the biggest problems that we as a global community face. No one should have to worry about when their next meal is coming, but millions do.

Hunger is a vicious cycle, when a family struggles with chronic hunger, it prevents them from being able to work, go to school, and improve their lives. Not only does this make this life very hard, but those suffering from chronic hunger are often overwhelmed by illnesses, developmental disabilities, and low productivity. Ramadan is an opportunity for true, meaningful change. As God tests our obedience and patience, He also gives us the chance to transform our lives through charity. Every good deed in this month is multiplied and rewarded many times over. This Ramadan, let’s be the change the world needs.

At Noor Orphans Fund, we work to reach those in need by tackling hunger year-round by providing help and support to orphans and widows living in Yemen and Iraq. According to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UNICEF, and the World Food Programme (WFP), 40% of Yemen’s population was expected to suffer from acute food insecurity because of the war, flood, coronavirus, and locust swarms, by the end of 2020. [1]

In Iraq, while the overall situation has been improving since the defeat of (ISIL) at the end of 2017, significant challenges remain – including economic instability and persistent low standards of living. The humanitarian situation is still precarious in many of the conflict-affected areas. The poverty rate stands at 22.5 percent, as Iraq ranks 120 of 189 countries in the 2019 Human Development Index.[2] Our charity focuses on helping orphans and widows, who are in some of the most vulnerable groups. Your donations can alleviate the suffering of those who struggle every day.

Our Holy Prophet (pbuh) has said, ‘If the servant was to fathom the worth of Ramadan, he would wish that Ramadan lasted the whole year.’

Bihar Al-Anwar, P. 346, No. 12

Don’t waste this precious opportunity to make a change to the lives of those struggling in Yemen and Iraq. Make this month count by helping us provide iftar hampers to those who have endured unimaginable hardship. From as little as £15 you can relieve hunger this Ramadan and feed a family, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients they desperately need. Every donation will help to create a brighter future.

Donate today and help us make a difference!

The Holy Quran: 63:10

The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time of giving and compassion, it is one of the most significant months of the Islamic calendar, and the perfect opportunity for believers to reap the blessings and rewards of this auspicious time. For those who are able to do so, fasting and charity are obligatory during this period.

There are many who will go hungry well beyond iftar time this year.

This is the key time for the Muslim Ummah to demonstrate its unity and strength and come to the aid of those who need our assistance.

In Yemen and Iraq, millions of people are in dire need of basic necessities such as food, water, clothing and shelter. We are aiming to deliver as much support as possible to those suffering as a result of the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Yemen. This year many have been severely impacted by the COVID virus, so your charity will go a long way in making a difference to those living in a country where every day is a struggle for survival. As Muslims it is our moral responsibility to help the less fortunate.

At Noor Orphans Fund, our charity is continually seeking to provide better living conditions and educational opportunities to orphans and widows and provide a brighter future for their families. We need your help for our ongoing campaigns to be able to provide financial and practical support. Your donations will support the neediest orphans and widows. Noor Orphans Fund will be distributing food packs throughout the holy month of Ramadan as part of our Ramadan Aid campaign.

With your help, we will provide iftar hampers for a family in need. Each hamper which will consist of essential food items and we are currently planning to raise enough funds to support 2,000 families. From as little as £15, you can feed a family in need.

Make the most of this blessed month and support those in need by donating to those who are suffering from poverty, war, and the unfortunate consequences of the pandemic. Your donations will ensure those in need can enjoy a nutritious meal after a long day of fasting. With your continuous support, we will ensure food packs are distributed to some of poorest people in the world.

When you give in Ramadan not only are your blessings multiplied, but your charity will significantly change the lives of those less fortunate and make the world a better place for us all. Every donation makes a difference.

20 years ago in Northwest London, an idea was born and the story of Noor Orphans Fund began. Since then NOF has supported thousands of orphans in education, healthcare, housing, displacement, food supplies, winter appeals and much more.

We’ve learned so much along the way and whilst we wholly embrace our amazing history, we have now made big plans to transform our story…

Rebranding
We have rebranded our charity with a brand new logo to reflect the new vision for the charity. The idea behind the logo was to create something that was simple and easy to remember.

What do we love about the new logo?
Everyone has a different interpretation as to what it means to them. Orphans are an emotive subject – looking after them is a duty for all of us and is one which the Holy Prophet and Imams consistently told us about.
In essence, the logo demonstrates the unique bond between an adult and child and their intrinsic relationship of protection and guidance. Neither is complete without the other and the value of their relationship is immeasurable. The logo spells out the word ‘noor‘ and emphasises our central goal of helping those who need it most.

Brand-new interactive website
We are currently developing a new website that will contain exciting new features for our supporters. Please watch out for upcoming newsletters and follow us on social media for updates on the new website and launch date!

More campaigns and projects
We are also busy expanding the breadth of our campaigns across the world and are working with partner charities to form crucial alliances which will achieve efficiencies and cost reductions in the work we do.

Digital Marketing
We are moving towards more digital marketing and research and less print-based material to ensure we are future proof for the digital era.

Technology
We are investing in technology and infrastructure to make sure we have access to the most up to date research and information concerning the people we will be supporting – and importantly – we will be involving the donors more than ever in our work.

Our Promise to You

Noor Orphans Fund will continue to serve humanity and with your support, we will do as much we can to achieve change, justice, fairness and significantly expand our efforts in humanitarian aid.
